2015 year was a big year when it comes to Big Money in politics.

The year started out with the shocking news that the Koch brothers plan to raise and spend nearly a billion dollars on the upcoming election, almost all in secret.  And of course, Dark Money and its destructive impact on our democracy knows no party bounds.

That's why California Clean Money is working so hard with our partners to not only overturn Citizens United, but to institute immediate change by passing the California DISCLOSE Act to stop secret money in politics.  Now, thanks to Jim Heerwagen and Californians for the Right to Know, there's a powerful initiative circulating for the November 2016 ballot called the Voters' Right to Know Act that will put into place clear disclosure rules like the California DISCLOSE Act's, and do much more.

So it was a big year — and the best way to tell the story is with pictures!  Here are pictures of some of the most important Clean Money events of the year.  Maybe you'll see yourself in one of them!

Clean Money Interns Hard at Work
This year we started a major intern program, with interns learning all about grassroots organizing and helping build support for the California DISCLOSE Act and Voters' Right to Know Act at the same time.  If you'd like to become an intern or know somebody who might, then see the details on our intern program!

In Memory of our Co-Founder Jo Seidita
Jo Seidita
One sad piece of news this year was the loss of Jo Seidita, co-founder of the California Clean Money Campaign and a tireless activist.  There was a beautiful memorial service for her last month.  Here she is receiving California Clean Money Campaign award in December 2013 as Co-founder and Chair "For Making Possible The One Reform That Makes All Other Reforms Possible".  With CCMC President Trent Lange (left) and original Executive Director Jim Clarke (right).  We continue her fight.

for Prop 49,the Overturn Citizens United Act!

Prop 49
On November 6, Clean Money supporters joined activists from Money Out Voters In, Courage Campaign, Common Cause, Money Out People In, and Californians from all around the state to rally in front of the California Supreme Court to demand that they restore Prop 49, the Overturn Citizens United Act, to the ballot.  The court is expected to rule in less than two weeks — so stay tuned!

Getting Fired Up for the New Voters' Right to Know Initiative!
Victory in Maine and Seattle
More than 130 people came to our event in Portola Valley last month to hear an American hero, former Congressman Pete McCloskey, talk about the need to fight Big Money.  Congressman Jerry McNerney, Senator Jerry Hill, and Jim Heerwagen of Californians for the Right to Know also spoke powerfully about the need to fight secret money.  The crowd was thrilled when we announced for the first time that the California Clean Money Action Fund is joining the effort to help qualify the new Voters' Right to Know initiative for hte ballot!

As you can see, it was a very big year for California Clean Money — with an even bigger year in the fight against secret money in politics to come.  We all hope to see you as we push to pass the Voters' Right to Know Act, the California DISCLOSE Act, and Prop 49!

Thank you again from all of us at California Clean Money for all that you do, and best wishes to you and your friends and family this holiday season.
